calendar One Down and Eleven to Go There’s No Stopping You NowThe last day in January is today. You may know this, or be shocked to find out. It is amazing to me with the technology we all have at our finger tips, some of us are so engrossed by what we are doing we forget the date, the time and more. Maybe we even forget we need a plan, a vision and a strategy.

Let’s begin with the importance of the month of January. It is just a month with 31 days like six other months. The importance of January is derived from its positioning as the first month of the year.

  • What was your January like?
  • What were your business results for January?
  • How was your personal life in January?
  • Are you on track to meeting your goals in each of these areas?
  • Are you contributing to your community in some way?

At the most basic level, regardless of your position as a CEO of a large multi-national corporation or organization, the founder of a mid to small sized company, an entrepreneur running a great business or a person out of work seeking a new opportunity, to get to the next step you need a direction to step towards. Your vision, the vision you create for yourself and for your business, provides this direction to move towards.

In a larger organization the vision may be created by a team of key leaders. From the vision, you are able to define goals to attain for periods of time. Goals may be for this year, this month, this week or today. This part is not done at all, by more people than you think. In large organizations, they think they are doing this. In reality they are working on a financial plan, and only a financial plan. If the words are written for other strategies which may be true, their focus and energy is only on the financial plan.

Here is how to really rise up above the rest. Create a way to confirm at least one time a month that the vision is still the right vision. The plan is the right plan. The strategy is the right strategy, and the goals are the right goals. Create a weekly process where you are able to check if you and your team are still on course in everything you do.

If January’s results were great, and you add in these described methods, you will stay on course for a spectacular year.

If you see your January results and you are not pleased, recognize that there are eleven months to go in this year. Create the process discussed in this article, and you will rapidly find yourself back on a course for success this year.

crystalball Is a Crystal Ball Needed for Business Success in The New Year? You may be the CEO of a large organization with thousands of employees, a midsize business CEO with fifty employees, a small business owner with a few staff members, or a solopreneur in your own private practice. Would you want to look into the crystal ball for a prediction on how your business and your life will turn out in the coming year?

Do you need a crystal ball for your success in business and in life in the New Year?

What exactly would you want to see or to know if you were able to look into the crystal ball? Okay it is the first day back to work in the New Year and this is too heavy for you?

Let’s try this one, if today were December 31, 2012, and you were looking back at the entire year of 2012, what exactly would you be seeing and be excited and proud of yourself for accomplishing? Write this all down, one item or a hundred, write them down.

Now as you review this list, which are the absolute top five items, that when you accomplish in 2012, you will be ecstatic about? Now write each of these down in their own column. Read these aloud one at a time and focus completely on these accomplishments you have done. Do not distract yourself with any ‘how will I get this done thoughts’. Immerse yourself in your pride of accomplishment as you know you did great work this year.

Here we go now, and looking into the crystal ball it is so clear. You will accomplish these five items if you do this one thing – You must take the first step.

Laugh if you wish. This is no joking matter. The difference between the majority, who do not achieve what they set out to achieve in the beginning of the year, and those who do achieve what they set out to achieve at the beginning of the year is having a clear picture of what you are setting out to accomplish and taking the first step.

Is there more to do? Of course! Will you ever accomplish anything if you do not take the first step? No, never. It just doesn’t work that way.

If you or someone you know is ready to clearly define their accomplishments for the year they desire to achieve and then set into place an action plan to achieve them contact

fire Fire up Your Business for SuccessImagine you are out for a night time walk and you come across a home with heavy white smoke blowing out of the chimney. As you walk closer you see the chimney is on fire at the very top and around the outside of the chimney.

Fortunately the homeowners were home and listened to the warnings and the urgency, put out the fire, closed up the fireplace flue and kept watch on their rooftop for a few hours.
They did not recall if they ever had their chimney cleaned. They also hadn’t looked up at the top of their chimney in a long time.

They just figured, well the nights are getting chilly; we have all of this great firewood and a fireplace, so let’s just light up a fire and get cozy.

Not so fast.

This applies to you if you are in business already as a small business owner or the CEO at a large organization, a start up first time entrepreneur or a serial entrepreneur, you must plan and be strategic in your business. Consider this, your business is one of your biggest bets you are going to make in your life. Are you not going to spend the time to plan and strategize? Are you seriously going to just jump in a canoe and go down the river and then realize you didn’t take an oar?

Chances are good that there was a nest built over time at the very top of the chimney. Since no one looked up the chimney or from the outside the nest was never noticed. Due to the fact a chimney cleaning had not been done for years, some of the nest parts may have dropped down into the chimney itself. All of these elements combined to make a dangerous situation, which if not for the concern and interest of an outside third party who was able to clearly see the danger developing and warn the homeowners of imminent disaster the results may have been severe.

Do you find yourself deeply engrossed in your business? Are you the ultimate decision maker? Everything must go through you? Is there a clear path for your fire to burn or is there something blocking your path to success? This is where an outside experienced set of eyes becomes so important. A person fully removed from your business to ask questions and probe about what you are doing and why you are doing it.

You have a big picture vision for your company. When you are caught up in the details you lose sight of what is really important. If you are ready for an experienced executive coach to work alongside you, to light a fire under your business and heat it up for success, contact Mitch Tublin today at

wallstreet What Lesson is The Occupy Wall Street Protest Teaching You About Business SuccessHave you taken a trip to New York City and attended a Broadway Show?

There is a lot of marketing done for each show. There are numerous reviews by the critics. Many people in general will gladly offer their opinion, including any friends of yours who have seen a show on Broadway. The day arrives and you enter the theater to enjoy the show. Up until this exact point you have some level of expectation of what you are about to experience.

Let’s stop right here.

This is the stage you want to set for your potential customer or client. They have an idea of what to expect before having worked with you, or purchased a product from you. You want to set the bar high in your marketing. You must exceed this expectation every single time.

This is true regardless of what your business type is. Whether it is a service based, retail, or product sale type of business you must exceed the table you have set. The marketing message must be clear and focus on the results. Inside of the marketing there must be enough emotional pull to engage the potential customer or client. This all must be based upon and wrapped around the real experience and what will take place after the purchase.

Consider for a moment the movement, Occupy Wall Street. For the last few weeks there has been quite a bit of press, TV coverage, etc. Now there are other groups forming across the United States and in other countries. The problem? What exactly and specifically is the agenda? Other than to protest, are there solutions, transformations, or suggestions for changes to be implemented? At the present time (and in actual fact), no there are none.

This is unfortunate. Right now there are supporters sending money and goods such as clothes, food, etc. Unless a few people step forward into leadership positions and define the solutions they seek as a movement, what lasting change or purpose will be accomplished?

The point to take from this example is for you to think through your marketing plan. What are you seeking to achieve? Place yourself in the role of your client or consumer and play the – if this – then this – game with all of the options you are able to conjure up. All of your marketing should have a strategy and a plan behind it.

hurricaneirene Business Success Tip: When an Opportunity Presents Itself – It Is Too Late To PrepareMy friend, John C. Maxwell, mentioned to me the other day, “when an opportunity presents itself, it is too late to prepare.” John is a master at saying so much with few words. You must invest the time, the effort, the money, and constantly grow your knowledge base to be ready.

There are so many people who attend a workshop or study a course, and weeks later the binders, the materials, the notes and the contacts are virtually forgotten. The binders are on the shelf next to last year’s binder. The materials are labeled and then boxed or filed.
The notes are left on a hotel room table or on the flight home. The contacts met are not nourished into new relationships.

You must, with intention, set into action a number of steps to continue along the path of success and to flourish in your growth. Consider the quote from John C. Maxwell and take his tip to heart. Determine how to apply this action to your business.

Another tip is to share your new experience with others, specifically in your networking. When it is the appropriate time for you to share a few words about yourself in conversation, discuss the workshop, the course, and the areas of growth you have recently achieved. The key point is – add the exact way you will utilize this newly acquired information to serve your clients with more value, “To serve your clients with more value”. Consider what this statement means to the person who is listening and hearing what you said. You are the type of person who is willing to take the time and the effort, and you invest in yourself to grow your knowledge base in order to provide your clients with greater value. This is a valuable differentiator and a memorable one.

You will have created the reason that you stand out and apart from others in your field.

Are you ready to put into action your newly acquired knowledge and your personal and business growth? You want an expert to assist you in the process as a sounding board and a second set of eyes or a trusted advisor? Contact Mitch Tublin today

sitonbeach No Time Left in Your Day, Your Business Success Depends Upon It“Time isn’t precious at all, because it is an illusion. What you perceive as precious is not time but the one point that is out of time: the Now. That is precious indeed. The more you are focused on time—past and future—the more you miss the Now, the most precious thing there is.”

-Eckhart Tolle

Would you agree this quote is more than relevant? Are so many of us missing the NOW?
Cell phones, iPads, news blips instead of in depth coverage, more distractions than substance.

A divorced dad is spending his Sunday with his 8 year old daughter. They have two Sundays a month to spend together. They are at Starbucks. He is working on his MacBook. She is texting friends on her iPhone. They sit together for three hours and never speak to each other.

Be present. NOW. Be in the NOW. If you are distracted how will you lead? If you are distracted how will your business follow Your Vision, Your Mission, Your Goals for success?

You must address the critical issues for your business growth right away. These may not be left for reviewing another day. If you require expert help seek it out. The reality is many business owners put the tough issues off to the side where they sit forgotten. It is the rare few who take ownership and immediately act upon the tough issues. These rare few are the exact same rare few who will achieve great success.

They overcome their fear. They quiet the naysayers. They move swiftly, on occasion making mistakes, and then continue to take action learning from each mistake. This is what it takes to be successful. Appreciate where you are now. Be present. Enjoy each step and each moment.

Do not mistake a busy day for a productive day.

Think about your day. Do you enjoy the time to relax when it is time to relax? Or are you checking your cell phone and eating at the same time and looking at email? My suggestion is you must take a few moments during each day ‘off the grid’. Be present in your relaxation. Upon your return to your project, your work, whatever you were working on you will be more productive, more energetic than before your ‘real’ break. Try this out for yourself and let me know how it goes.

If you are ready to create the NOW for yourself and you require the assistance of an expert Executive Coach, contact Mitch Tublin today www.thementorguy.com.

Happy New Year!

2011planning Success in 2011 Will Be Determined By Your Planning and Goal Setting For Your 2011 SuccessYou have all of your planning and goal setting completed and ready to go by now for the New Year, right?  Ask any person who is successful or read about them.  Every single one of them had a plan to follow.  They had goals to meet, strive for and achieve.  What about you?

Mitch, this is so boring, it is not exciting!  Sorry about that!  It is absolutely critical to do,  so how do we make this process more interesting?

Here is one example for you to have some fun with your planning and goal setting.

Go to www.staples.com and buy a big white pad of blank sheets like the type you use for a presentation, buy some markers or crayons and buy some sticky notes of different colors like those made by www.shop3m.com now take all of this great fun stuff and lock yourself in a room for one hour.

This is okay to do if you are a work at home business owner or a CEO of your own software company.  We are all people!  What, you tell me, you were never 6 years old once!  Chill out and work with me here.  Bring in a glass of wine if you want to.

Now this is an example, so feel free to use a method that works for you.

Use a black marker and label the top page of one sheet BUSINESS STRATEGY BIG PICTURE.  Now Label another sheet short term goals.  Now label a sheet family, community, friends and giving.

Select a new color and begin on the last page.  List everything you want to do with your family, in your community and for charity this year.

You see this is why you do what you do isn’t it?

Now select another color and list in order the main items near term you need to achieve in your business.  For example: build a list or make money.

List five items in their order of priority.

It is time for a new color.  Business Strategy Big Picture is our next item.  Take a deep breath and dive in.  What drives you to do what you do?  What are your ideas? Just let it go!  Write down your big dreams.

Fill up the page.

So you tell me. Was this so painful?  You now have the initial foundation for creating your plans and goal setting activities for 2011.

If you are ready to create your rock solid plans and goals for 2011 with a business strategy consultant working right beside you, click on the box to the right and begin with an initial strategic business breakthrough session with Mitch Tublin.

You see the ads in the fast food industry for the value meal.  The $1 burgers.

The $5 foot long.   I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for.  So would you bring a client you are trying to get to know - to a place to eat where you each order a Value Meal?  Probably Not!

Here is my question: why do you make price the main concern when you seek advice, a coach or a mentor?   My most successful clients know the end game either before we meet or they get it after our initial call.  If you are not willing to make the investment in yourself of time, effort and money how will you achieve your goals?   Let me know.

Stopped in the grocery store to pick up some fresh fruit. By the way, look up JJ Virgin if you want some great tips on eating well and having more energy. In the fruit and veggie section three ladies were speaking about life after their corporate jobs were gone. One of them was bewildered, she kept saying, “I don’t know what I’m doing or where I need to be. I mean my life was in my blackberry and they made me turn it in! I asked if I could just buy it from them and they said no? Everything was in that blackberry! I just don’t know what I’m doing?” So here are a few items to consider: first – what is your plan B? Do you keep everything in your Blackberry? What if it is lost, stolen or breaks? What is your plan B? second – this is just contacts and calendars. This is important of course. what is missing are the goal setting and planning tools. Where do you keep track of your goals, time to complete the steps to achieve the goal and then the goal itself. You should schedule your celebration of completing your goal equivalent to the level of work and size of the goal. What are your thoughts?
